Getting an off-campus apartment is an appealing option for many college students. However, living outside of the university system has its freedoms and responsibilities. In my opinion it is better to rent a flat off-campus than to stay in a student residence hall. To begin with, living on your own will give you a sense of responsibility because you will be in charge of paying bills, cleaning house, grocery shopping and cooking. What is more, you will probably have more independence, freedom, privacy and space. Furthermore, private apartments are usually quieter and have fewer distractions than dormitories, which make them better for studying. In addition, you will not have to worry about house parties, loud music or quarrels with nerve-wracking roommates about the mess they left.
