A friend in need is a friend indeed

To begin with I’d like to explain why I have chosen this proverb. The reason is very simple: I really appreciate friendship. It makes me happy and my life interesting. Without friends life is boring and dull. Friendship is something noble and great but very rare. It’s a pity that nowadays it isn’t as valued as it should be. We call a man “friend”, but often we betray him or go back on our promises.

Friendship is something noble and great but very rare. It’s a pity that nowadays it isn’t as valued as it should be. We call a man “friend”, but often we betray him or go back on our promises. When we are rich and powerful, a flock of people gather around us and claim to be our sincere friends, but when we have problems most of them suddenly disappear, these are false friends. Today’s world is full of such people, who want to make a profit, not real friendship. But even now there are people who treat their friends carefully and try to do their best to make their relationship long and filled only with bright colors. I hope I’m not an exception and I hope that my friends are happy to communicate with me. Frankly speaking, I can’t say that I have many friends, I have just 2-3 people whom I can call this way. I have many acquaintance with whom I can chat or go to the cinema for example, but I really can’t rely on them for 100%. It is true that a friend shares our joys and misfortunes, helps you when you have problems and you can always rely on him. Friendship gives me support and stability, a consolation in sorrow and there I can find understanding even if I do things wrong. Friend is our counsellor and guide. He is a source of joy, strength and courage. He increases our pleasure in prosperity and lessens our sorrows and sufferings in adversity. The real worth of these people is known when we fall on bad days. Fair-weather friends leave us in the lurch. Those who stand by us through thick and thin are our real friends. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
