Many British people eat toast with butter or Marmite and others a bowl of cereal or muesli with milk. But traditional English breakfast contains food such as bacon, sausages, eggs, toasts, mushrooms, black pudding and tomatoes. Then many people have a tea-break at 11.00 (it’s called elevenses). They can eat fruits, different cakes and biscuits. Lunch is eaten in the middle of the day. Many people eat a sandwich, cheese and biscuits, soup and bread. A ploughman’s lunch is a roll, pickles, salad and sometimes pork pie. If people eat only in the late morning they have brunch. It is traditional for people to go to a pub with friends for a pub lunch and a drink. It is place where people can socialize and acquaint oneself. A Sunday roast is a meal eaten by a family at Sunday lunchtime. Tea-time is a small meal eaten in the late afternoon. People may drink a cup of tea and eat biscuits or savoury foods. People in Britain prefer a strong tea with sugar and milk. The water is also important. Children often have pizza, pasta or sausages and ice-cream. At High tea people eat something more than just a cup of tea. Dinner is another common name for supper. People have meat with vegetables and dessert, or more often they get takeaway. Traditional “Fish and chips” are still popular, but there are now more Chinese and Indian restaurants, that offer curry, chicken tikka masala, aromatic duck and fish. British people enjoy eating snacks between meals. These include sweets and crisps. So, for me, British meals are diverse and delicious, but I can’t eat it every day, because it will be harmful to my stomach. But I would like to taste this food.
