The aim of this proposal is to organize a Movie Club, where students of the English Teaching Program would meet to discuss about movies and series in order to practice the target language in a friendly and safe environment. Why it is important? There are a number of reasons why I am doing this proposal, but the main reason is that a large number of students of all levels of the Teaching English Program lack of fluency, have a fear of speaking English in public and do not seize the opportunities to speak the English language outside of the classroom. Description of the club’s activities: This club would meet once a week in one classroom of the faculty, to discuss one movie or TV series, previously arranged by the participants. A maximum of 15 students will be admitted to this club per session, if there is more demand, a new section will be created. Once a month a movie or series would be watched in the classroom for immediate discussion. Benefits: Production practice with an enjoyable and almost-real input would offer an important instance to help the department’s students to practice the target language in a safe and relaxed environment, where their own peers would offer the feedback if needed as well as offer the time and space for self-correction. This Club, also, will mean a time to ease the stress related to studies and University life. Cost: • No monetary cost for the faculty. • Disposition of time, space and equipment.
