We should acknowledge from the start that we cannot make moral judgements about other cultures or eras. The question we need to answer is whether each time and place has its own morality or not. My view is that people’s behavior is generally better than it was in the past. Firstly, it is important to recognize that, in the past, there were a lot of wars. Therefore men were much more aggressive, cruel and rude. They could even kill a human without any hesitation. Secondly, we must remember that religious leaders were the ones who decided what the correct way to behave was. Some of the religion canons were very strict. Having said that a huge number of women suffered from the inquisition in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, the violent times were left in the past and the moral code is more loyal nowadays. We must remember that laws change over the years as people’s views of morality change….
