  • why wasting food

We all waste food for different reasons. Sometimes it is because there has been a change of plans and it is out of our control but most of the time we waste the same types of food for the same 2 main reasons: we have bought or prepared too much, or we have forgotten to use it on time. Looking into why food gets wasted, the following are more specific reasons that have been identified: • Leftovers – this is usually because too much food has been prepared or put on the plate • Partially used food – this includes food not used but also leftovers which end up at the back of the fridge but never get reused • Passed its use by date – applies mainly to dairy, meat and fish which wasn’t used on time • Food gone off – smelt bad, looked bad, tasted bad – this food had a chance but was managed badly • Passed its best before date – this usually impacts things like bread and other staples that waste away in the cupboard • Badly prepared – never easy to say it but sometimes the food prepared just didn’t taste great – sorry Mom!

  • Religious people usually behave better than non religious people.

For the origins of religion we have to dig deep into the history when people were convinced that world is held by three elephants, giraffes or whatever they thought was holding the world. That is also the time where we can find first society norms and political principles. The question I would like to answer is whether religious people behave better than non-religious people. And this should be the point where thoughts differ and split in two opinions - they do or don’t behave better.

  • The worst day of your life

n many ways, the date doesn’t matter, but it was April 8th. The date, and the time and the location are seared into my memory. It was the date that my beautiful baby daughter was born asleep. It was the day when time simply stood still, when the vibrant colours of early spring turned to shades of grey. The few minutes before were the last time that I truly felt as though life was perfect, the gaping hole that opened up afterwards convinced me that it wasn’t.

  • The best thing in life is free

When I was a child, my mother usually reminded me that: “The best things in life are free.” As the time goes on, I have never forgotten about this saying. I contemplate it and I realize, then that it’s definitely true. First of all, I would like to ask you a question: “What are your best things in life?” If you say they are love, friendship, smiles, laughter or sleep, which are free, we are reading others’ mind!

  • Journey

Jerry glanced at his watch as he ran towards the platform. With only five minutes until the train left he was cutting it fine. He hefted his pack over his shoulder once more, ignoring the painful protest from his muscles. He practically charged through the barriers, leaving only enough time to swipe his pass and race over to the train. He wasn’t alone either. About twenty others were all trying to get on to what was already a packed train.

  • YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO WRITE A STORY FOR YOUR STUDENT MAGAZINE. THE STORY MUST BEGIN WITH THE FOLLOWING WORDS: EMMA COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT SHE SAW IN FRONT OF HER.

Emma could not believe what she saw in front of her. It was her brother, Bob, with blood on his hands. She was shocked, she couldn’t even say a word. She was just staring at him with her eyes wide open. Bob wanted to hug her but Emma ran away to the nearest forest as fast as she could. She had been running for two hours in the dark forest when ten wolves crossed her way.

  • How can we live a happy , satisfying life in a consumer society?

We are living in a consumer society, where we are motivated by material things. To lead a happy and satisfying life is somehow difficult. However, there are still some ways to gain happiness while struggling in this society. First of all, don’t spend too much time earning money. Money can not buy happiness. Spending a fortune on the latest fashion or technology will not make you happy, especially once you have got bored with your purchases and need to buy more and more.

  • We have become too reliant on computers. Do you agree?

Nowadays almost every aspect of our lives is affected by computers. Some people think that computers can solve almost any problem, but I believe that we rely too much on them. Firstly, if a computer that controls vital equipment in a large organization brakes down, the consequences can be very serious. For example, if the computers in hospitals or air traffic control crash, then many lives could be lost. Secondly, in the modern world, too many decisions are taken by computers and not by people.
