In chemistry, a catalyst is a substance which is used to modify a chemical reaction, without itself being consumed in the process. In everyday life we may perceive it as a thing or even a person that causes an important event to happen. It is not necessary, and the process would still meet its end without it, however it does indeed have an impact on the final result. And just like a chemical catalyst, solitude is often needed to let an idea appear in our minds. When it comes to work, solitude is the joy of being alone and not the pain of that state, as it is in loneliness. It is a conscious choice to give oneself time to work or think without being disturbed, which is actually very valuable in our busy lives. It is said that extroverts need to be around people and activities all the time, because that is where they gain their energy from. However, everything has got a line that can be crossed at a certain point, and so does the vitality of extroverted people. They, too, need to have some time and space for themselves, to just be with their own thoughts and focus on nothing else but themselves. That is when they can come up with an amazing idea, which could not have happened among so many different people and such a diversity of thoughts. With introverts there is no doubt that solitude is their way to be productive and creative. They naturally seek out the company of their own thoughts, which leads them to dig deeper into their minds and sometimes come up with great conclusions. Innovation is something original, new, which can be transformed from a thought into a new business for example. To come up with that, you don’t necessarily need to be all alone. With a group of your co-workers, you could start a new business any day. Nonetheless, what it important here is the quality of the idea and how much time you have actually spent thinking about it and perfecting it. And to do that, you will need to spend some time in solitude, which will speed up the process of making an idea alive, perfect your plan about it and let you bring in something from yourself.
