Some insurance companies encourage young drivers to install black boxes in their cars in order to collect data about their rides. Insurance companies would know, did they drive safely or not. In return companies would reward them with discounts if they drove safely or they would have to pay more if they did not. Is it good idea? Let’s consider all advantages and disadvantages. In 2015 drivers paid an average of 659 zł.

In return companies would reward them with discounts if they drove safely or they would have to pay more if they did not. Is it good idea? Let’s consider all advantages and disadvantages. In 2015 drivers paid an average of 659 zł. a year in auto insurance. I think that one the greatest advantages of black box technology is that it makes insurance premiums more fair because they would depend on your driving behaviour rather than a demographic group that they belong to. The second advantages also very important is safety. In my view, it would change the way how young people drive for better. They would drive safety all time due to financial incentive and they are constantly monitored so in my opinion, it would improve their driving skill and decrease the amount of car accidents. Disadvantages of black box technology is that it is unfair in some way, because some people like to drive faster, for example, when road traffic is almost zero, when they want to outrun someone or when they just want to trial their car. With that technology these people would be punished, on the other hand people who drives very slow, doesn’t outrun other cars and etc. would be rewarded for his driving behaviour. That’s why I don’t consider this as fair. To summarize up there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of installing black boxes in cars. In my opinion, it should not be obligatory to install it in cars. This idea should become the subject of a broader discussion among drivers and they should make a decision about black box technology.
