Many parents become friends with their children on FB. We have to consider if pros, or cons are in the advantage in this case. The main benefit is fast access to information. Parents can check what child is doing right now and what is he writing or sharing on FB. Parents don’t have to worry about money on cell phone running out – they can always contact their child for free and what time they want. Also they can contact with childs’ friends if they need an in emergency! Moreover they can protect their children from cyber-attacks because they are always informed. On the other hand, so much information available on the Internet for anybody strange brings the big danger. Your child’s photos can be downloaded and used(illegally, but still), remade or published. The effect of frequent usage of this kind of portals is the isolation from the reality. Parents and children could stop talking to each other, because they said everything on FB. To make matters worse there are many cases of addiction to social networks. In conclusion, Facebook’s incredible popularity probably stems from the fact that we have less time. We are moving our social life to the Internet because it is very comfortable and simple. Certainly social networks has its good points, such as maintaining relationships, and finding old and new friends. But we must remember that nothing can replace a face to face conversation. Parents have to learn their children to be together in real world. It is much better than on FB.
