THE LAST SONG The book „The Last Song” was written by Nicholas Sparks and published in 2009. It is one among many of emotional novels from the collection of this writer. Though the beginning was a bit slow, the story had a great plot, strong characters and a wonderful ending, full of hysterical moments. The book tells a very realistic story about romantic love, but especially about the family drama. The story revolves around the summer of Ronnie Miller, during which she is sent to stay with her estranged father. Ronnie is rather obnoxious, shallow and a rebellious teenager who is hugely affected by her parents’ divorce. Meeting the father after almost three years wasn’t easy for her, because she accused him of leaving her, her brother and mum. After all that, she distanced herself from his and gave up music. Music was thing, which was connecting her with father, but then it was another source of stirring up bad memories. Through their shared love of music, perhaps they will manage to rebuild relations. During these holidays Ronnie met the real friend, fell in love and overcame a lot of obstacles. From the selfish girl she changed into the woman full of sympathy, caring and strong. I just love father. His unconditional love for his children, patience with Ronnie, his belief in her and finally his love for music is remarkable. The story might seem predictable but it moved me to tears. In my opinion this book teaches to forgive and learn from mistakes. I was captivated by this story and I recommend it to everyone. I think that “The Last Song” is perhaps one of the best of Sparks’ books and necessary to read for all who enjoys his writings.
