Winston Churchill once said: ‘Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm’. It is a very wise thought, but also hard to understand. I do not know if I can fully agree with this quotation but I would like to present my point of view. First of all, I would like to interpret the thought. In my opinion, it means that we should never be afraid of failure. We have to remember that life is not a bed of roses, it is a pathway of thorns and success step ladders are made from failure’s wood. We cannot win all the time. The most important thing is to never give up, never lose enthusiasm. Furthermore, we should learn from our mistakes, not to make them again. After all, in ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’ by Oscar Wilde we read: ‘Experience is the name that everyone gives to his mistakes’. They are not bad at all unless we do not draw any conclusions from them. On the other hand, we cannot score the failures all the time. We have to reconsider our steps, think what we did wrongly and try not to do it again. All things considered, I cannot fully agree with Winston Churchill’s thought. Obviously, mistakes are sometimes useful, we can learn a lot from them. Nevertheless, it is better not to make them too often.
