The Internet - one of the greatest inventions of the humankind, making communication across the globe not only possible, but also very easy and accessible for anyone. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, right? But is it all that great as it sounds? Let’s talk about the advantages. First of all, a long distance between people does not matter that much anymore. You can be friends as easy with a person from the other side of the town, as from other country just by using chat or other communicators. In addition, even if you have unpopular hobby, your chances to find someone with similar interests are higher. With multiple social networks and fanbases, you could even find out that more people share your passion than you would expect. And last but not least, you can be anonymous. You don’t have to reveal the information about yourself that you’re not willing to share. On the other hand, disadvantages are noticeable too. The person you’re talking with can be lying about anything. This may lead to dangerous situations like abuse, when trustful children thinking they’re talking with their peers, are in fact pedophiles target. Also, some people say that Internet friendships aren’t reliable or long-lasting, and you can’t really know someone without meeting them. In my opinion friendships made using the Internet are not worse than those in real life, but people should be careful making them, because you never know who’s on the other side of the wire.
