We know a huge number of places on the planet due to famous travelers. I want to tell about two Russian travelers, such as Vitus Bering and Ivan Krusenstern. Vitus Bering also known as Ivan Ivanovich Bering was a Danish cartographer and explorer in Russian, and an officer in the Russian Navy. He is known as a leader of two Russian expeditions, the First Kamchatka Expedition and the Great Northern Expedition, exploring the north-eastern coast of the Asian continent and from there the western coast on the North American continent.

He is known as a leader of two Russian expeditions, the First Kamchatka Expedition and the Great Northern Expedition, exploring the north-eastern coast of the Asian continent and from there the western coast on the North American continent. I will tell about the first expedition.Bering was to captain the First Kamchatka Expedition. He set to sail north from Russian on the Kamchatka peninsula, with the charge to map the new areas visited and to establish whether Asia and America shared a land border. Bering departed from St. Petersburg in February 1725. The ship headed towards Okhotsk. From there, the men sailed to the Kamchatka peninsula, preparing new ships there and sailing north. In August 1728, Bering decided that they had sufficient evidence that there was clear sea between Asia and America. The Bering Strait, the Bering Sea, Bering Island, the Bering Glacier and the Bering Land Bridge were all named in his honor. Ivan Kruzenshtern was a Russian admiral and explorer, who led the first Russian circumnavigation of the globe. The first Russian circumnavigation of the globe took place from August 1803 to August 1806. Two ships, “Hope” under the command of Krusenstern, and Neva under the command of Yuri Lisianski took part in the voyage. Both ships to sail across the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean after which the ships to sail across the Pacific Ocean towards Japan. After visiting Japan, “Hope” set off towards Sitka, Alaska, sailed past China and Macao on the Indian Ocean, then rounded Africa and came back across the Baltic Sea to Russia The voyage lasted a total of more than three years. Ship “Kruzenshtern” was named in his honor. The world is a book, and those who don’t travel, read only a page. Author: Anna Zolotaeva
